Welcome and thank you for visiting Painted Lady Nubians Dairy Goat Farm and Menagerie!
Painted Lady Nubians Dairy Goat Farm and Menagerie is owned and maintained by Frana J. Hall and is located in the beautiful sand lands of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. My herd is registered with the American Dairy Goat Association. This farm, like so many others, was started as a hobby. I purchased my first two nubian does in July of 2005 with my next purchase of a buck and a doe soon to follow. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with the beauty and gentleness of this breed of dairy goat and thus my desire for a larger herd was kindled. My herd now consists of four senior does, four junior does, four dry yearlings, two senior herd sires, one junior herd sire, and three kids which have been retained for my herd. My herd was named after my first two nubian does because of their beautiful spotting, hence the name "Painted Ladies".
This year, I plan to breed at least eight does. If all goes well, I should have kids for sale from January through March 2009. All kids for sale will be posted on this site as they are available. I do not take reservations for kids as color, pattern, sex of kids and number of kids born is very unpredictable. If you have an interest in purchasing a kid, please frequent my site from late January through March 2009. All spotted kids will sell for $175.00 & up and solid kids will sell for $150.00. In order to keep my herd size manageable, I may from time to time have adult goats for sale as well. Adult goat prices will be listed as they are posted for sale as pricing will vary.
My herd is maintained as holistically as possible. I do not practice CAE prevention as I feel that it is important for the kids to develop natural immunity from their mother's colostrum. I most often use herbal preparations for parasite control and have had very good results with this method. I do on occasion use ivermectin and /or fenbendazole if I encounter a problem that does not respond to herbal preparations. I have a very healthy herd and spend a lot of time monitoring my herd to insure their wellness. Please visit my favorite links page if you are interested in links to websites that offer herbal products for goat health maintenance.
This year I have also added a Poultry page as my variety of poultry breeds has significantly increased. Many of the breeds that I own are rare and listed on the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy critically endangered or threatened list. It is my desire to preserve these breeds. I will list poultry for sale as they are available. Please check back often if you have an interest in purchasing poultry as this page will be updated frequently.
